■ Hongdae (Hongik University)

Hongdae is a main street in front of Hongik University and a main place for young people.

You can get off at the ‘Hongik University’ subway station.

 Bong Chu Jjim Dak

 It is steamed chicken that is cooked with soy sauce and glass noodles. But it is a little bit spicy and sweet.

You can choose the kind of glass noodels which is flat, thin or mixed.

After you eat steamed chicken you can extra ‘Nurungjibap’ on your sauce. It tastes fantastic and you can feel Korea.  

 Hongdae Manul Tteokbokki

 It is not a normal Tteokbokki. It has garlic with it!

▷ TIPS     

I recommend tteokbokki with noodles and extra roasted garlic and cream cheese gimbap. They are signature menus. It can be ordered by machine.

 Joseon Dynasty

It’s place to go for a drink. What’s special about this place is that it feels like you are in the Joseon Dynasty.

▷ TIPS

I recommend drinking the rice wine. If you want to try new one, I recommend you to try a mix of rice wine flavors (makgeolli).

■ GangNam

GangNam is the third largest district in Seoul and it is the place where its name was used in one of the k-pops called “GangNam Style”. It is a huge shopping area as well.

 Jang In Dakgalbi

 It is a famous Korean spicy chicken stir fry.

▷ TIPS

 I recommend to order cheese. It’ really good when you eat the chicken with the cheese on it!

 Also, order fried rice after you are done eating most of the chicken. 

 GangNam Hengsang

 It is a Korean traditional marinated beef.

▷ ADDRESS: 9 Seocho-daero 77-gil, Seocho 4(sa)-dong, Seocho-gu,  Seoul

▷ TIPS     

 Eat the beef together with the mushroom and the sauce! You can also wrap it in lettuce.

 Maple Tree House

 It is a famous Korean BBQ called Samgyepsal.

▷ ADDRESS: 113 Teheran-ro, Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul

▷ TIPS

When you eat it, wrap the pork in lettuce. You can also put Ssamjang.

(Korean style wrapping sauce) and rice in the lettuce.

Put whatever you like to put!

■ Jamsil

Jamsil, where the 1988 Olympic Games were held, is the famous for Seokchon Lake and Lotte World.

In addition, Lotte World Tower and Songri Dan-gil have recently sprung up, many people have visit.

Haeju naengmyeon

Naengmyeon is Korean-style cold noodle dish. This place is especially famous for its spicy ‘bibim naengmyeon’.

▷ TIPS

 If you eat spicy food well, I recommend you to eat ‘Bibim naengmyeon’. If you are not, I recommend you eat ‘Mul naengmueon’.

Hol jjak jip

This place is famous with grilled pork with kimchi.

▷ TIPS     

When there’s a little food left, I recommend ordering fried rice. (Most Korean eat meat and then fried rice) 

Seoulism

 Café with a good view near Jamsil and Seokchon lake.

▷ ADDRESS: Songpa-dong 48-7, Songpa-gu, Seoul

▷ TIPS

The price of the drink is expensive, but I recommend here, if you want to enjoy the night view leisurely and take a good picture.

■ Jong-Ro

Jong-Ro is the place located right next to DongDaeMun, on line 1 and line 3.

Jong-Ro has been a popular place since 1900s when Japan colonized Cho-Sun dynasty.

Due to its long tradition, there are a lot of good restaurants and cafes around Jong-Ro.

GwangHwaMun MiJin

It is famous for Memil, noodle made from grain named Memil. The origin of this food is Japan, but in this restaurant, you can taste Korean style Memil dish.

I recommend this restaurant to vegetarians, since it is very hard to find a good restaurant for veges in South Korea.

NamDo BunShik

It is the restaurant selling Bunshik including Teok-bokki and gim-bap. This sort of food is very popular among the youth because it is comparatively cheap and spicy.

Kim-bap and Teok-bokki are the best combination in the world

Seoul Coffee YikSeon

 It is beautiful café in the traditional building of South Korea, called Han-Ok. You can enjoy coffee and fusion dessert.

▷ TIPS

I recommend Ang-Butter. This has Korean style sweet red been with butter in bread. This dessert recently became really famous.

■ Han River

The Han river is the main river that crosses Seoul and divides the Gangnam(South of river) and the Gangbuk(north of the river). Koreans go to the Han River for lots of reasons such as for biking, cherry blossom(in late April-early May), running date, family picnic, walking dogs, yachting, ice-skating in winter,etc. But most people go there to “eat”!!

 Eating ramen at the Hangang parks!

There is a speial ramen machine that you can boil ramen in a foil container in convenient store near or in the Han River parks. It is about 2-3 dollars(2-3000won) and adding an egg is 50 cent.(500won)

There are lots of YouTube videos that can helo you to experience this. We recommend to go to here either day time or night time!(but not in winter)

 ChiMaek (chicken & beer)

The awesome thing of Korea is the delivery service and you are legally allowed to drink in parks.

Get beers from a convenient store and bring/buy/rent a mat there. And you will gind tons of flyers of delivery services for fried chicken and just order call!

▷ TIPS     

But it would be difficult to order something if you don’t speak Korean.. but don’t worry! There will be also tons of street foods including BBQ chicken and pork( Sam-gyup Sal) . you can simply bring anything you like or buy some chips and cheese from convenient stores at the Hangang parks.
