Sundae is made of pork or cow intestine which is filled with a marinated mixture of glutinous rice, glass noodles and vegetables by steaming or boiling. The origin of the Sundae can be found in food using animal blood and intestines. Sundae is mainly made of pig intestines, but there are also sundae using fishes.



The method of making sundae and taste varies according to region. In Hamkyung Province, a lot of pollacks are picked up so people in Hamkyung made it with pollacks. In Gangwon Province, there is a squid sundae that is put ingredients into the body of a squid and threaded immovable. Also, there is dry squid sundae that is peeled off and put on the marinated dough, and tied it to thread, Dry squid sundae is made in Gyeonggi.


 

 

Sundae is a good snack and accompaniment of drinks. Many Korean people enjoy eating sundae. Especially, it is more delicious when you eat with tteokbokki(spicy rice cake). Korean people eat food set called 'tteok sun twi' that are rice cake, sundae, and fried dishes and they are good match. What about eating a sundae with beer today?
